Fishing Report for May 23, 2024
The current Lake Level is 713.46 and falling, the temperature in the mid 70s. Lake color ranges from light stain to muddy but clearing in the Grand, Osage and Pomme arms. The Dam has been running full flow but has now cut back to 120 and will cut back even more over the week end. White Bass and Hybrids are beginning to show up various places on the lake. Of course live shad are the bait of choice for hybrids while spoons and sliders are taking large numbers of White Bass and smaller hybrids. It seems now is the time to troll for crappie and whites with the ever popular "Flicker-shad". Crappie have also been taken in 35-40 feet of water on minnows and jigs fished 8-12 feet deep slow moving with trolling motor. There are big schools of shad out there and fish won't be far away. With this weekend being Memorial Day Weekend, there will be lots of boat traffic, so good luck on finding a place to fish. Best advice go early
