The current Lake level is 704.14 ,with the water temperature in the high 80’s. The lake is dangerously low while the Dam is being worked on and could possibly reach lower levels. My understanding is, the historical low is 661.0 recorded November 14, 1978. Of concern should be the ramp areas as well as the navigation in and out of the ramp areas.
I have fished very little this month as the heat and old age don’t work well together, however I have had several half-day trips, mostly crappie fishing. Many areas, from timber to shallow flats, have produced limits of crappie. Most caught on minnows in 16-18 ft of water about 12 feet deep.
Hybrid fishing has been pretty slow for artificial bait and fairly good on live shad. Many of the live bait guides are bringing in catfish in good numbers as well as hybrids. Late evening spoon fishing has been good in the KK Island area.
Hope this weather breaks soon, but in the meantime I’ll continue my 7-11 trips.
That’s it for this report. Please be extremely careful on the lake and know where you are, and above all wear that lifejacket!
