The current Lake Level is 705.46 and the temperature in the mid 40’s. Lake is clear.and dangerously low. Fishing in the main lake area seems to be pretty good on crappie on the bare bank bluffs and deep brush piles. Upper ends of the lake excellent in the ends of the creeks. Crappie are hitting as shallow as 3 ft under a cork in the dense timber to 28-30 ft along the bluffs..on’t be long before the bigs move to the mouths of spawning areas at 55-60 crappie will start moving to the backs of the creeks to the warmer water, and at 65-70 degrees it will be game on. Minnows and small jigs under a cork should fill your buckets.
Sad to report Truman Lake’s first fatality. A man named Skyler Lewis walked into the lake to get a snagged net and drowned. My thoughts and prayers go out to this young man’s family.
I took the winter off this year and plan on a late March 2024 return. Currently I have plenty of dates open, so make your reservation. Hybrids or wipers, should start about mid May.
