Anita Lynne (Jolly) Maichel, 58, of Overbrook, KS passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, KS. She was born June 22, 1962 in Topeka, KS the daughter of James A. Jolly and Martha L. (Albright) Jolly. She graduated with the Class of 1980 from the Santa Fe Trail High School in Overbrook, KS. She attended Emporia State University, Emporia, KS.
Anita worked as a Claims Processor/Trainer for Blue Cross & Blue Shield in Topeka, KS for over thirty-five years. She also worked at Four Corners Steak House in Carbondale, KS.
She was united in marriage to George Walter “Mike” Maichel on July 30, 1988. They shared over sixteen years of marriage before the death of her husband on February 22, 2005.
Anita was a dog lover, who enjoyed going with family and friends to watch the Country Stampede Concert. She was an avid KSU Wildcat Fan and KC Chiefs Fan. Besides fishing, Anita will also be remembered as an expert babysitter and car buying, negotiator. She also served as a Board Member for the Overbrook Historical Society, Overbrook, KS.
Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Maichel and her grandparents, Ernest & Margaret Albright and James & Edna Jolly.
She is survived by her parents, James and Martha Jolly of Overbrook, KS; a companion, John Krewson and Cassie McKinley of Overbrook, KS; four brothers, David (Marlene) Jolly of Ozawkie, KS, Richard (Terie) Jolly of Carbondale, KS, Jim (Misty) Jolly of Overbrook, KS and Bruce Jolly of Wichita, KS; a sister, Lisa (Joe) Jolly of Carbondale, KS; eight nieces and nephews, Jason, Brian, Jacob, Morgan, Kristi, Lori, Melissa, Monica and Trenton; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
To celebrate Anita’s life, the family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the Overbrook Library, Overbrook, KS. - Many of you will know her as John Krewson’s Better Half as she was at almost all of John and Fred Baraks weigh ins. Following Fred’s death, John continued to fish many of the Truman Lake and Lake of the Ozarks Bass Tournaments and you would almost always find the “Red Head” in the crowd at the weigh in.
